Beverly Joan Godfrey (nee’ Zwirn) 81, of Tinley Park, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly was born on March 15, 1942, in Chicago, IL. She grew up in the “Back of the Yards” neighborhood of Chicago and attended Five Holy Martyrs Catholic Grade School and St. Joseph’s High School, graduating in 1959.
After graduation, Beverly attended the Art Institute of Chicago and went on to beauty school to become a beautician. In 1961, she became an Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Bell & Howell in Skokie. She left Bell & Howell in January 1970 to devote her time to raise her family.
In 1984, after her three boys were in school full time, Beverly went back to work for Jacobson Publishing, an agricultural commodity reporting company, where she was Lead Analyst and Editor of the Animal Fats and Feed Bulletins for domestic markets. She left Jacobson Publishing in 1994 and became President/owner of Money Mailer of South Cook-Will County, a direct mail and digital marketing company, where Beverly received many awards for producing the highest sales volume in the United States, until she retired in 2002.
Beverly was the beloved daughter of the late Josephine H. (Adolph) Dudiak and Henry F. Zwirn, loving wife to Kenneth R. Godfrey, devoted and cherished mother to her three sons, Hilary E. Konczal II, Anthony A. Konczal, and Michael H. (Christina) Konczal, dearest grandmother of Breanna (Zachery) Clark, Michael A. Konczal, Edward H. Konczal, and Destiny Nichols-Konczal, dearest great-grandmother to Rowan M. Clark and Elijah R. Clark, fond aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to so many.
Beverly was an amazing, kindhearted, beautiful woman who lit up a room whenever she walked in. She always had a smile on her face and a warm and caring touch. She was very proud of, and loved her three sons, and grandchildren more than life itself. Beverly was an incredible dancer who moved with such grace and poise. She was an avid lover of country music and the oldies. Beverly gave of herself and taught CCD at St. Christopher Parish, Midlothian IL., She was a Eucharistic Minister for St. George Parish, Tinley Park, IL., and she enjoyed her St. George Prayer Shawl and Bible Study Group.
Most of all, Beverly always had a smile on her face when any one of her three sons, or grandchildren walked into the house to visit. She is loved immensely and will be missed dearly. Beverly was a remarkable woman who lived a full and meaningful life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt who touched the lives of many. Her legacy will live on through her family and friends, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-8 pm, and the funeral will be held on Tuesday, with 9:15 prayers at the funeral home processing to St. George Catholic Church for a 10:00 Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
