Jon R "Dick" Marshall

Jon R. “Dick” Marshall, age 87, of Orland Park, formerly of Oak Lawn, passed away peacefully, beloved husband of 63 years to Adele, loving father of Deb & Mark (Kris), proud grandfather of Emily (Ben) Miller, Scott & Danny, fond uncle & great-uncle to many nieces & nephews, dear brother-in-law of Judy (Tom) Venkus & the late Roger (Chris) Liberatore, special grampa to Magee’s, Becker’s, Bello’s & Altshul’s. Dick was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, Charles, Nona & James. Dick was employed with Amoco & Unitrin. Dick was the favorite Zamboni driver at Oak Lawn Ice Arena & was a longtime summer resident of Wonder Lake, Illinois. Dick was a proud US Navy Veteran who served (1952-1962), Radarman 1st Class. He was past commander of Orland/Palos VFW Post 2604, member of the Korean War Veterans Association, 60 year member of the Masonic Order, member of American Legion Post 615-Tinley Park & past president of the Alumni Dad’s Club of Brother Rice High School. Visitation Monday October 30, 2023, 4-8pm & Tuesday October 31, 2023, 930am until time of service 10am at Maher Funeral Home, 17101 71ST Ave., Tinley Park. Immediately following the service, family & friends will meet for a committal service 12pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orland Park Veterans Commission, 14700 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, IL 60462.
