Beloved husband to Mary (née Coyne) for 64 years.
Loving father to David, Virginia Crain and Steven(Cookie). Grandfather to Pam(Rob)Shepard, Crystal (Jim)Williams, Samantha, Sean and Gabrielle. Great grandfather to 11 Cherished son to the late Antonio & Anita. Loving brother of the late Anthony, the late Delores (the late Charles) Mason, the late Sally (the late James) Courson, Frances, (the late William) Burke, the late John (Mary), Carmen (the late Phillip) Cruz, Louis (Sylvia), Rosemary Ortiz, the late Raymond, Richard (Diane), the late Ronald (Diane), Helen Casillas and Marie Kozdras. Uncle Joe to many nieces and nephews.
Joseph will be remembered for his love of sports, especially football and baseball, but any Chicago team, as long as they were winning! He had a broad sense of humor garnered during the golden age of television with the likes of Sid Caesar’s “Your Show of Shows” and Jackie Gleason, to more contemporary comedy like Sanford and Son or Benny Hill. He also enjoyed vacations throughout the U.S., trying see as many historical places as possible. But most of all, he loved his family. Early on he was a big proponent of establishing a regular family picnic on Sunday with all his siblings families; a tradition that would carry on for decades. He had a lot to say and a lot to give, and while he will truly be missed, he will never be forgotten.
Visitation Tuesday 3:00 P.M - 9:00 P.M. with a Funeral Service at 7:00pm at the Maher Funeral Home 17101 S 71st St Tinley Park ( 1 block east of Harlem located in the Olde Tinley Library) Interment Private.
