Kathie Brophy Obituary

Kathie Brophy of Marionette Park, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday September 27, 2020, with her daughter holding her hand.

Kathie was born in Chicago on November 9, 1950 to Helen and Pleasant Amick in Chicago, IL.  She grew up with her sisters and brother in Alsip, IL and enjoyed time with her large extended family throughout Chicago during her lifetime.  She spent her career as a bookkeeper and retail professional with several different companies in the Chicago area and was currently working with Burlington Coat Factory at the time of her passing.  She also volunteered as often as possible to help the Bleeding Disorders Alliance of Illinois, an organization she was very passionate about.

Kathie was affectionally known for her love of many hobbies and pastimes including crocheting, making crafts, creating jewelry and spoiling her beloved Princess among her many other past pets. She will also be remembered for her fond love of theWizard of Oz. Lastly, she will be forever known for her fierce independence, dedication to her family, and, most importantly, her never ending love and devotion to her two grandchildren Cole (her ColeyBear) and Addi (her Munchkin).

She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer (Steve) Silha; grandchildren, Cole Silha and Addison Silha; sisters Jackie (late Skip) Dahlman and Janet (Sean) Foley, and the late Joseph.  She was known as Auntie Kay to Josh (Kelly) Foley, Angie (Kevin) Kenny, Nick (Amy) Foley, Zachary Dahlman, Luke Foley(Joey), Paige Foley. Great Aunt to Angelica, Jillian, Justin, Kane, Gianna, Declan and Gracie. She also leaves behind her best friend Bob Robinson.

While life was not always easy for Kathie, she never backed down from any of the challenges that were put before her.  Shealways worked extremely hard and consistently found a way to make everything work out.  The world will indeed be a less colorful place with Kathie gone but we can all take solace knowing she is in Heaven reunited with her parents and so many family members that have passed before her.

Visitation will take place at Maher Funeral Home at 17101 71st Avenue in Tinley Park on Monday October 5, 2020 from 2pm to 9 pm. A prayer service will take place the following morning Tuesday from 10 am to 12 pm.
