Konstantinos “Gus” Maheras, 90, of Orland Park, and born in Manthirea, Arcadia Greece, passed away on Saturday, December 12th, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (nee Winters) for over 34 years. Loving father of Thomas (Leslie), James (Alison), George, Vicki (Chris) Dray, and Billy (Joy). Proud papou of Katharine, Patricia, Emily, Thomas, Olivia, Anna Patricia, Will, Amalia, Maggie, Sophia and Zoe. Devoted son of the late Athanasios and Vasiliki (nee Kliros). Gus came to this country in 1951 at the age of 21 with nothing but an amazing work ethic and a desire for a good life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as an expert gunner in Germany, and then went on to his life’s work as a restaurateur. Gus married his love, Pat, in 1962 who always said it was his sweet smile that won her over. They had five children along the way whom they made a beautiful life. Gus was an extremely selfless person with an abundance of generosity, who helped and touched many lives along the way. He lit up and reveled in the accomplishments of every one of his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. May his memory be eternal!
