Lauralynn "Laura" (nee' Odette) Gray

Laura Gray, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024. Laura is survived by her loving husband, Terrence Gray, her mother Barbara (nee' Czubernat) Odette, late father Donald J. Odette, her brother Michael Odette and nephew Blake Odette. She was a very proud stepmother to Nicole (Ken) Korab, Ryan (Danielle) Gray and Katie (Jim) Bourke. Laura cherished her grandchildren- Arabella Rose Gray and Everett George Gray. Laura will be missed by so many wonderful friends and extended family members.

Laura worked as a Financial Services Associate, most recently with CIBC Private Wealth Management in Chicago.

Laura was a very active community member, serving as an Alderman in the City of Oak Forest for many years, and she will be remembered for her many accomplishments- working to bring a dog park to her community, beautification projects around the city, and the formation and success of an animal rescue program in Oak Forest, saving the lives of many local animals. She was very proud that she was able to legislate programs that made Oak Forest one of the most humane cities in Illinois.

 Laura loved gardening- spending many hours on her home landscapes- building on the beauty every year.

Animal rescue was Laura's true passion in life- and her desire to help all living creatures never lessened, even as her illness progressed. Laura will be welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge by all of her departed pets that held a special place in her heart. Nothing made Laura happier than to spend time snuggling with her pets.

Laura worked and supported many local animal rescue groups throughout her life- and fostered many animals while they waited for their new loving homes. In recognition of a lifetime devoted to animals, Laura's family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in her name be made to the following organizations so that more animals can be saved:

Laura will Lie In State February 24th, from 9:45 - 10:30 am at St. Damian Catholic Church, 5300 W. 155th Street, Oak Forest, Mass 10:30
