Simon-André “Tommy” Auguste was unexpectedly called to our Lord with his oldest daughter Kathleen “Kathy” Paul on the 31st of October, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois at the age of 76.
Simon-André was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and his parents, Joséphine (née Petit) and Gérard Auguste.
He is survived by his wife, Marjory (née David), one child, Stephanie Paul, a grandson Jalen André Patton, siblings, Marius Daniel Auguste, Marie-Lucie Paul (née Auguste), Marie-Elsie Michaud (née Auguste), Marie-Michelle Claude (née Auguste), Jean-Robert Auguste, Marie-Carmelle Thelusma (née Auguste), Marie-Josée Auguste, Marie-Gabrielle Loiseau (née Auguste), and Hérold Olivier. Additionally, he leaves behind a loving aunt, Anne-Julie Lambert (née Petit), who will always refer to him as her adopted son, an uncle, a multitude of nieces, nephews, and relatives as well as many friends who he affectionately considered his “extended family.”
Simon-André Auguste was born on the 9th of September, 1945 in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, to the union of Josephine (née Petit), and Gerard Auguste. He graduated from Les Frères De L’Instruccion Crétienne, then attended Lycée Phillippe Guerrier. In 1977, at the age of 32 he left his place of birth for a new life in Chicago, Illinois. He married Marjory (nee David), the love of his life, on his birthdate in 1984. After moving to Country Club Hills, Illinois, Simon-André Auguste began working for Maaco as an auto body technician. His daughter remembers him as a hard-working, humble, supportive, and fun-loving father.
Simon-André Auguste was a generous and dedicated individual who loved the Lord and cherished his wife and children. He took pride in being a role model for his grandson. Dancing to his collection of Haitian and French music brought him much joy. He was also passionate about supporting the Haitian community in the Chicagoland area. An active and dedicated member of the Concerned Haitian Americans of Illinois (CHAI), he often volunteered at their many benefits. He was a great man that will be remembered by the many hearts he touched. May he rest in peace with his daughter “Kathy.”
