Mr. Patrick J. Carey, 92, late of Chicago, formerly of County Mayo, Ireland, passed away April 28th, after a lengthy illness. He was considered a true pillar of the South Side Irish Community. Patrick and Agnes Carey owned Carey’s Pub for 30 years. Carey’s Pub was well known by the Irish and southwest side neighborhood. They were proud sponsors of the Brendan’s Irish Football team.
He was a founding sponsor of Gaelic Park in Oak Forest and supported many organizations in the Chicago area. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Union Local #150. Cherished husband of the late Agnes (nee O'Malley); Devoted father of the late Tony, Geraldine (Mark) Gorman, Bridget (William) Dziedzic, Dave (Susan), Don (Patricia) and the late Kenneth. Loving brother of the late Willie, Tom, the late Bridget and David. Dearest grandfather of many grandchildren. Dearest great-grandfather of many great-grandchildren. Fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Great Chicago Food Bank appreciated. chicagosfoodbank.org.
