Shelah A. Cole passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 3, 2020 at the age of 86. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Omega J. (Riley) Cole; their daughter, Sabrina Affeldt (Mark) and sons, Craig Cole and John Cole (Casmira); three grandchildren, Shannon Cole, Benjamin Cole, Emily Cole and one great grandchild, Rielley Paulsen. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Shelah was born on December 14, 1933 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Benjamin Harrison and Winnie (Usrey) Cole, who predeceased him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Virgie (McCormick) Cole, Erbie Cole, Vila Mae (Caldwell) Cole, Elbert Cole, Edward Cole, Vira Ann (Jones) Cole, Bethel Cole, Thomas Solomon Cole and Benjamin Higgerson Cole.
Shelah was a dedicated Christian, member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Frankfort, Illinois and a proud United States Army Veteran, he served overseas for eighteen months.

Visitation and funeral, with Military Honors, at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, Tennessee on Friday October 9, 2020 @ _______ cst. followed by a burial at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Tennessee. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of a great man who touched many lives. The service will be officiated by his nephew, Ronnie Taylor.
The family would like to thank Palos Health Hospice for their compassionate care and support during the final days of Shelah’s life. They also appreciate all the love, prayers, visits, calls and food received over the past few days from many friends in the Illinois and Tennessee area.
